The GO! Rules and The Winning EDGE, have received wide praise. His book, The Complete Horse Riding Manual (Dorling Kindersley - 11 languages) is the best selling riding manual in the world, and his more humane Micklem Bridle is the best selling bridle in the world.
He found Karen and David O'Connor's three Olympic horses, Biko, Custom Made and Gilt Edge, and is the breeder of two other Olympic horses, Mandiba and High Kingdom. He also bred their full brother, the stallion Jackaroo. He is a Fellow of the British Horse Society. He has received lifetime achievement awards for his breeding successes from Horse Sport Ireland and for his coaching from Eventing Ireland.
