Paul Kilbride

Paul has been involved in horses since a very young age, growing up through the pony club. After studying equine science in U.L. under the guidance of Rosemary Gaffney, Paul spent time in Kentucky, working in all aspects of the thoroughbred industry.
On returning home, Paul began working with H.S.I. Tutor Niall Quirk, whose extensive knowledge, guidance and continual tuition for 10 years was paramount in Paul’s development. With Niall Paul gained experience on all horses from 3 year olds through to grand prix level. During this period Paul was lucky enough to observe many training sessions from international trainers Conrad Schumacher and Anna Merveldt.
From 2006 Paul was assistant trainer and rider to paralympic rider Eilish Byrne, and travelled with her trainer Niall to the 2008 games in Beijing. "Youri and I have been very fortunate to have Paul coach and work with us, especially in our preparation for the Beijing Paralympics. I would recommend Paul to anyone seeking to improve their riding skills whatever their level." - Eilish Byrne, double paralympian.
While continuing to coach, Paul has since worked with top level riders from all disciplines, encompassing nations cup meetings, world games, Olympics and Europeans, in dressage, show jumping and eventing, along with all the major 3*** and 4**** events in the U.K. and Ireland. "Pauls' coaching assistance in the build up to competition, and being there as eyes on the ground have been of great benefit to me and my horses" – Sarah Wardell. Irish international event rider.
As part of his education Paul completed the H.S.I. level 2 coaching exams in 2013 and is now available at Spruce Lodge as a freelance instructor for dressage, flat-work for jumping and jumping lessons.
Riders of any discipline, age and level and Pony club and Riding club groups are very welcome.
